You can be offered the best salary in the world, the best possible conditions of life, you can be presented with the future no one would be able to grant you otherwise. You can be finally given love, family and a new life. Taken it all into account, why is it so that you never stop missing the place in which you were born? Why even the cheapest home food tastes twice better than the most expensive restaurant meal? Why you get so much used to the views and the landscapes of your home cities and towns that you miss them even harder when you are away? Why will even the most secure family situation never let you forget about your roots, your childhood, and your past? An amazing story of lost home, an inspiration for many, tragedy of countless and a thought-provoking adventure for us all: immigrants, emigrants, work commuters. And those who lost all and will never stop missing. Lion.
What's wrong with us as a civilization that for centuries we are entirely fine with killing other human beings: since ancient Roman battles, through crusades, wars and terrorist attacks; and we cannot accept sex? What's wrong with us, as today we watch people from Syria sending messages pleading for help and we're numb as we're afraid of our religious beliefs threatened, our jobs filled and people taking away the safe air we breathe? What's wrong with Muslims as they see a woman's sunbathing body in a bikini a threat to their patriarchal perception of the world? What's wrong with those who run a truck into a group of innocent people, having their brain washed and deceived that there's a reward for killing in the name of fanaticism, as there's really no reward? What's wrong with the two-faced Catholic morality of infidelity, greed, and lust, hiding behind the cover of goodness, tradition and preaching? Why do people need to have God to hurt and kill others, as without God they seem to be little children not willing to take responsibility for their actions? Why are small people afraid of words which expose their weaknesses, insecurities and their lack of reasoning? And why it all seems less controversial than a nasty tribute to penis and vagina? All about freedom of speech, sex, pleasure, and perversion. It seems that we haven't changed that much. Unforgettable Quills.
If you wish to watch something adventurous and entertaining, with the European sense of humor, you'd most likely enjoy Taxi. There are no speed limits in the pursuit of friendship, romance, and professional ups and downs, while every ordinary guy can be a hero, win a beautiful girl and literally save the world. Three parts of exciting pursuits, kidnappings, organized criminal groups and mission impossibles of a hilarious but effective couple: a policeman and a taxi driver. Sometimes one commercial car can be more successful than the whole state-funded investigation department. Enjoy.
Life is such a fragile thing. One day you're the king of the world with your plans, expectations, and boosts of confidence. And then BAM! One event turns your life upside down. Yes, it is unexpected. Yes, it hurts as hell. Yes, this is the life, 'Why me?' does apply and you can ask pleading questions as biblical Job, never expecting the answer. You see, some people win the lottery, some lose. And either way, it doesn't make your life any less worth the deal.
Can you deal with your life once you're struck by a tragedy? Can you manage with the irreversible circumstances of your fate, survive physical pain, the lack of control and disability? Can you accept that you cannot be always on top and at times the game of life places you in the losing position? Can you find meaning and optimism in what's left and all the little things that remind you that life isn't over yet, even though for you it might be over? Can you start from the beginning and try again to learn everything that made you once a complete human being? A beautiful film about a life, a fight, a struggle. And love, as without love any suffering hurts twice as much. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
Medical and technological advances spring up like mushrooms after rain. Granted a certain amount of money, you can have control over the features of your child: you can choose an egg, a sperm donor, even a surrogate. Let's take a step further, possibly in the future you will be able to choose more specific features: hair color, the shape of eyes, level of intelligence. It might be possible that you will produce a better you, without flaws, without defects and genetically predisposed diseases. But what if your plan went slightly wrong? What if, instead of a perfect creature, you'd create something a little bit too perfect? Morgan.
You'd think that having the same genes would create a bond between people, a connection which develops into mutual respect and reliability. You'd think that sisters would love each other despite comparisons, that brothers would be comrades in spite of competitiveness. Two children can be as different from each other as two sides of the same coin. Two siblings can grow up to be completely separate people.
In the circumstances of war, would you rather choose a hero traumatized in the turmoils of war or a troubled family man easy to spend time with? A significant number of women: wives of policemen, firefighters and soldiers have to make the same, this time life, choice. An interesting outtake on the matter, a remake of a Danish film which poses many questions about morality, love, and death.

What if children happen to be abandoned by parents and are left with no form of guidance and protection? What can occur if they have a house to themselves and all the curfews and rules suddenly taken away from them? What roles will be usurped by the remaining family members? Will they change and grow up? Will the family stay a family despite a major loss of two important people: its head and neck: the father and the mother? And what children left to their own devices are capable of doing? Based on a novel by Ian McEwan The Cement Garden.
Can you put an equivalent between every crime? What should be perceived more punishable? Killing someone on the verge of dying or killing someone whose life priorities are not necessarily of the highest morals? Is there a hierarchy of crimes when all you have to do to survive is drink the blood of other living beings? Is there a survival for those who not only broke the rules of life and death but happened to break the rules of the patriarchal society where a man was the voice, power, and money (and the woman was only a property and had to be obedient)? Is there a chance for a mother and a daughter in the flawed world which from the start placed women in the inferior position? Is there a hope for a normal life when you had been tinted with the drop that through centuries created blood-sucking monsters? Byzantium.
There are so many stories of war victims. While millions perished in gas chambers or were killed in battles, uprisings and bombings, from time to time an individual story of survival comes to light. A boy who spent years in someone's attic, a girl adopted by a couple, forced to pretend that she's of a different faith. Or a woman who lost everything because of war circumstances and was kept in the cellar of an apartment. What if a friendship between two women turned into something deeper and more intense under the pressured intimacy of fear and loss? What if in times so terrible for women, when hundreds of thousands were raped and manslaughtered by soldiers, there were two who created their own idea of home, peace, and happiness? What if one of them tried to do everything to keep this situation for ever? What if a lie in hiding was easier than telling the truth?
You fall in love. You get married. Your children are born. You build a house, buy a flat, travel the world. And one day you wake up and this intense fondness towards your partner is gone. You don't feel anything, you don't even wish him/her well. But can you end your relationship in a civilized way? Can you divide your possessions without grudges and aggression? Can you deal with the trauma of a break-up as a grown-up or will you do everything to win the metaphorical battle between good and evil, showing that you're always right? Will you resort to the most humiliating, unforgivable acts to get even? A film about divorce. Enjoy.
We live in gaps. Some people have too much of everything and they spend money on unnecessary things. Some people live below a dollar a day and don't spend at all because they cannot afford anything. Some people live a lifetime with one person, for some even a hundred lovers don't seem to be enough. Some don't want to have children and they give them up for adoption, others invest money in fertility treatment and in-vitro. And then, there are twists of fate.
What if somewhere in the middle of nowhere there was a couple who desperately wanted to have something, but was unable to get it? What if a surprising giggle of fortune brought them a spark of hope, home and happiness? What if they did something wrong for all good reasons? Can you be really happy, depriving others of their precious possessions? Will you manage to gain from someone's loss? The Light Between Oceans.
Marriage. Stability. Routine. Little happy feet waking you every day, craving food, attention and endless play time. Every day, day by day. Never ending sameness turning your life into an impossible nightmare. And on the other hand: sex, desire, adventure, and escape. Can you leave it all to once again feel desired and uninhibited? Is your life of stability really such a nightmare? And why so many people decide to abandon the families they already have for the happiness with someone else? Is the dream romance with this someone doomed to the same final collapse? On the other hand, is it worth getting stuck in a hole with no escape just for the sake of children? Would you stick to what is known and sure or would you fight for your happiness? What will be your choice, and will you judge those who made different choices? Little Children.
For centuries people couldn't accept one human form of relationship. While big age difference between lovers doesn't raise eyebrows of too many people, when same-sex love seems to be regularized and marriage is a possibility in many countries, people still have problems with accepting incest. What makes a brother and a sister so besotted with each other that they'd rather die than be set apart? What makes a desire so strong that no law can prevent two people from being together, both physically and emotionally? Why being born of the same parents doesn't stop people from falling for each other? And why your world news still tend to be disturbed by an intrusion of a heading of a father-daughter, mother-son or sister-brother relationship? A fairy-tale romance on the matter. Brother and sister. And love. Marguerite&Julien.
If you wish to set off on a journey where you don't feel discriminated by your family members, poked fun at by people in the street, or constrained by the bad atmosphere at work, fall for one of the convolutes plots of Wes Anderson's wit. There might be camps which you haven't visited, there might be love affairs which don't seem believable, there might be pursuits which seem out of this world. But finally, there might be adventures which will take you to the world of a classic good story, bizarre humor, memorable characters and a few hours of forgetting why you came here in the first place. Moonrise Kingdom.
Have you ever found yourself attracted to an underage person? Have you watched a porn film with the word "teen" shining shamelessly in between the remaining words of the voluptuous heading? Have you enjoyed a film with an underage actress or actor, admitting that you feel particularly driven to her/his looks/intelligence/body? Have you even wondered what if? What if you just loosened the reigns of your morals and scruples? Will you be taking part in a blissful romance or will you be involved in a trap constructed by a mischievous mind, only seemingly nice and innocent? Beware, Hard Candy.
Love is one of the greatest mysteries on Earth. It makes everything fade: your family, pursuits, even your dreams. It makes you reevaluate some priorities in life. Is asks you what makes you happy and what you cannot imagine keeping going on without. Love is stronger than plans, as it makes a lot of people rewrite their most precise life scenarios. It helps us move continents, learn languages, develop skills. It can be happy or tragic, long-lasting and short. There are hundreds of stories of happy couples and those less happy ones who had to flee, abandon homes and professions, abdicate from the positions of kings, dukes, and priests. So if you're in a mood for a love story, which was based on a real-life forbidden affair, enjoy this tale: Elvira Madigan.
When everybody in your nearest proximity is getting married or engaged and you start to be tired of all the stories of happy endings. When your love life is over or you are in between serious relationships, or you recently ended a long lasting one and the last thing you want from life is to take part in another painful fling. If so, ponder over the nature of relationships. Think what you want from life, whether it is a brief romance, fidelity, and exclusiveness, adventure or a family. Maybe you wish just to meet new people and not to get attached. Possibly it's a great time for you to finish some unfinished business, to work on your career, to pay off some loans, to complete your studies. It might be a great time to polish your friendships, enroll in a language course or simply have fun, get drunk, laugh out loud and appreciate these rare moments of solitude. A light and funny comedy with some inspiring truths for all of us at some point in our lives. How to be single?
Are you in a mood for erotic experience? What if as a student you entered a group which seemed so revolutionary and open-minded that the sole thought of their company made you blush? What if you were involved in a play that drove you crazy over the possibility of exploring your sexuality? What if a pair of siblings invited you over to their apartment and shared their love for films and broke the boundaries of law and morals with your innocent soul? An intriguing sexual fantasy behind the closed doors, which is where all the spicy bits usually happen. Let yourself dream the dream of The Dreamers.
Every day we make food decisions. We decide what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, what snacks to buy in between our meals, whether to eat at home and prepare the meal ourselves, whether to buy ready meals and just preheat them with little effort, whether to go to a standard restaurant or to a fast food restaurant. The majority of our decisions are based on money. Sometimes the same amount of money has to be spent by the family of two and be enough for the family of four or six. The more you earn, the more items are available on your food list. You can buy your Starbucks coffee and your McDonald's meal. You can invest in your Coca-Cola bottle and order Chinese food or a pizza. But does being slightly better-off really make us healthier? Why the inhabitants of African tribes who still depend on hunting and gathering seem to be much more resistant to diseases and the effects of aging than you: the average citizen of developed countries, whose hunting capabilities are limited to the run to the convenience store or a supermarket? What food should we eat? What simple rules should we apply to our eating habits? What should be our ideals in achieving the aim of a healthy life devoid of heart attacks, strokes, and cancer? And why the answers are so simple? In Defense of Food.
The game of love seems to be so easy. Ideally, you fall in love, get married and spend the rest of your life with this one person. Why then it still happens to so few of us? What if you are in love with more than one person? Why is it so difficult to make one choice and stick to it for the rest of your life? Why is sexuality so fluid? What will be the result of a game of love between the three truly besotted with each other? An entertaining play on a Parisian love affair. Enjoy.
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a famous actress with the position of Julia Roberts? Have you wished for a career of another Britney Spears or someone equally successful? Is your life the effect of your unfulfilled dreams and are you pushing your children to ballet schools, dancing classes, acting lessons and beauty competitions, when in fact it is your ambition that went unfulfilled? It is never too late to make your dreams come true. And even though the lack of talent and skill prevented many from achieving their aims, there were those who accomplished theirs regardless of obstacles. An interesting take on marriage and white lies which make at least one woman happy. Florence Foster Jenkins.
Don't you have a feeling that we got lost somewhere in between the McDonald's burger, coffee machine, Nike shoes and a whole lot of labels? Can't you sense that the meaning of life faded during the fever of commercialization? Aren't we stuck in repetitive jobs, earning money which we spend on unnecessary things, and don't we deprive our lives of freedom, equality, wisdom, and sense? Wouldn't you rather lead a different life where it doesn't matter what clothes you wear, what coffee you drink and what cosmetics you put on your face? Wouldn't you rather choose a life in which education, survival, resourcefulness and the ability of creative thinking win the battle with brand loyalty, customer service and dress code? Why the choice between comfortable life and corporation, and art school and poverty line forces us to be in the wrong place and to fall into the trap of a fake, manufactured destination?
What if there was one big family who outwitted the system and created something unique? Captain Fantastic. Entirely brilliant.
We are surrounded by nudity, pornography, and sex. We pay models for sexual poses to advertise clothes, perfumes, and shoes. We associate sex with attractiveness, we take demand for desire. We fall into the trap of appeal and availability.
How to distinguish the thin lines between relationship abuse and the abuse by a stranger? What can we call provocative and what should be condemned as immoral? Why so many men have problems with making the difference between consent and the lack of it? Why so many don't take 'no' for an answer? Why so many women suffer from someone's unfulfilled desires and misjudgment? Why are we each other's greatest enemies, when criticizing body image, and why so many men treat women as objects, whether at home, at work or in their social circle? Why so many women have to suffer the irreversible consequences of rape, abuse, and mistreatment? This is a film for viewers with strong nerves, but watching is just a mild form of experiencing what others suffered or suffer on the everyday basis. Irréversible
Do you want to be taken to an adventure where love has no age limits, where flying is a pursuit of desire, metaphor and catching the unachievable? Do you want to witness a romance which breaks the boundaries of conventions? Do you want to experience a difficult relationship where the roles of mother and daughter seem to be misplaced? And, finally, do you want to fly the flight of freedom, both sexual and artistic with the soundtrack by Goran Bregović and Iggy Pop? If so, dream the dream of Arizona Dream. Enjoy.
If you want to experience one good camping adventure when the least expected criminals turn the whole country into a hunting campaign, if your idea of a family is slightly different from the standard one, if you love beautiful landscapes of New Zealand's paradise, this is something definitely for you. Deprived of the silliness of superficial toys, technology gadgets, and special effects, it's one true story of a boy and a man and all crazy folks around them. Simplicity and a great sense of humor which lingers with you for a little longer. Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Let's talk about climate change. Let's talk about me. I eat beef, which contributes significantly to the air pollution as cows need a lot of plants to eat and, as a result, they produce gases which go to the atmosphere. I'm neither vegan nor vegetarian, which means I kill animals for the pure pleasure of consuming meat. Of course, I don't kill them personally. I pay big corporations to receive nicely portioned and clean pieces of meat which I prepare at home in the form of chops. I even come from a town which is one of the biggest producers of meat throughout my country. I could stop eating beef, shifting from beef to fish or chicken, with a hope that in 20 years time I will not be consumed by cancer, stroke or suffer from a heart attack. I don't drive as I don't have a driving license. Consequently, I use the public transport. I sometimes walk. I live in places heated by coal, so I contribute to the rising levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. I also waste a lot of plastic bags and produce far too much rubbish. I consume what is available, without growing anything of my own. I even buy books which I read once and probably leave them on the shelf, forgetting that they are the reason for a lot of trees being cut. I'm guilty.
I am guilty of what you are guilty. So let's talk about you. Can you do anything to stop our climate from changing, the icebergs from melting, the coral reefs from dying? Can you think of a way you can leave your planet a little bit better for next generations? Can you use the examples of Sweden and Denmark to shift from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy? Can you switch from your means of transport and be more eco-friendly? Can you be less cynical about the issue as we know you cannot save the world but you can save at least one person, one garden, one tree?
Let's talk about climate change. Let's talk about us. Can we do something for our world, as I believe that you, me and Leonardo DiCaprio walk on the same planet each day, every day? Can we do something in time Before the Flood?
Not so long ago the window to the outside world was for many of us overshadowed by the curtain of the lack of money for travel. Plane tickets were expensive, as it was before the era of commercial airplanes which miraculously cut the distances and enabled us to travel continents. For many of us staying at home before the time of the internet meant watching movies, going to VHS/DVD libraries or finding discounts for cinema tickets.
This is a story of a special family for whom films meant the whole world. What if your only freedom was watching thousands of fiction productions? What if your "normal" was limited only to the TV screen? What if you were raised in a strange, sect-like home prison and weren't allowed to interact with anyone else than your own family? What if your only knowledge about the world was the figment of someone's imagination? A liberating story of one brave step towards freedom and adulthood and a whole life spent in the bubble of fantasy. The Wolfpack.
Do you believe in reincarnation? Does your sixth sense tell you that you lived, sometimes, in a different place, in a different epoch, in utterly distant circumstances? Can you feel that particles of your ancestors still exist, maybe inside your relatives' smiles, in your children's eyes, possibly even in your pets' souls? Do you believe that people who loved us, stay with us no matter what? Would you fall for the power of words and trust that your late husband can be born again in the body of a little boy? And, once saying goodbye, could you fall in love with the memories of the past? Birth.
There are cinematic gems which amaze us with the beauty of images, complications of plot and unexpected endings. There are stories built on grounds far different from the cliches of predictability. There are romances barely touching the lips of obvious and traditional. If you want to be taken to the exotic world of the sexual play, observe a conman's plan to seduce and conceive a beautiful woman. If you want to witness a game, where victims are real villains and the naive prove to be holding the reins. If you want to engage in sex which is in most cases banned from our - viewers' - eyes and if you are fond of books and stories which are full of eroticism and corrupt, enjoy this masterpiece. It's definitely worth your time. The Handmaiden.
Women are complicated, powerful and motivated creatures. When everyone talks about their basic roles (of mothers, lovers, daughters, and wives) their real desires seem to be neglected. How to deal with a difficult situation at home, how to overcome fears which are a stumbling block in the fulfillment of dreams, how to float on a swinging boat of a summer love affair which helps to spread wings and deal with self-harm? The Summer of Sangaile. A sensuous romance making us forget all the trivial things and focus on the few important ones. Freedom and dreams in one teenage love story. Enjoy.
Parents seem to know us better than anyone else. They were with us from the time we could barely open our eyes and scream out of hunger, fatigue or pain. They watched our every step, they followed our mistakes at school, our failed friendships, our desires. And then we grew up, with different desires, with a whole lot of secrets kept from them, with truths they have difficulty digesting and accepting. We turned as much flawed as they are, as fragile and weak. It takes time to deal with a child who is no longer a child. It takes time to accept the most uncomfortable truths. A mother. A son. A love story. Litling.
Love and loss go together hand in hand. Isn't losing the one you love what you're most afraid of? And what would you do to prevent this event from happening? Would you keep the beloved no matter what? Would you create an individual having the same features, the same genes, the exact same looks and the timbre of voice? Would you be able to give birth and bring to life the ones who were taken away from it? Would you be brave enough to play with fate? And, taking it all into account, would it be the same exact person? What are the limits of selfishness and how expectations crash when facing the reality of roles, social prejudices, and relationships? The thought-provoking Womb.
It's funny how different desires shape us as people. Some girls want to be mothers, as they like playing the house and pushing strollers with dolls. Some boys like to imagine themselves in spacecrafts made of cardboard boxes and some are pushing cars imitating ambulances or fire engines. Some girls want to be soldiers as they don't mind the perils of war. Others want to be singers. And some boys want to be fashion designers, dressmakers, and bakers. Sex shouldn't be the limit for all of us achieving our dreams. Family life shouldn't be the inhibiting factor. This is one inspirational story of growing up and one boy's fight to be the one who he always wanted to be. Toast.
There were times when cinema was there to take you to the land of knights, evil queens, blessed children and helpful little people who played a big part in fulfilling the destiny of a prophecy more eagerly than anyone else. There were stories which took you to beautiful countries and exciting circumstances, where castle were houses, dragons - house pets and wizards - a must. There were also adventures you would gladly take part in. What is the outcome if you put together a child, a dwarf, a slightly irresponsible knight, a beautiful lady, an evil queen and a whole lot of funny and unpredictable characters? Willow. A classic never to be missed and a fantasy that should be enjoyed by many over and over again.
Do you live your life of passion? Honestly, can you tell that your job is based on your love, hobbies, and interests? Did your vocation help to cure your depression, failed relationships, drinking problems? Do you wake up every day with a feeling that you do what you love doing? Or are you stuck in a hopeless situation, doing what you're supposed to do, out of financial stability or out of fear of changes? Maybe it's the right time to change something in life, to get back to things which had always made you happy. Chicken people - people who look for all the above in surprisingly exceptional bird. Everyone has to find a perfect match. For some it is chicken. Enjoy.
I simply adore the phase your mind falls into, occasionally, when bored, weighed by the life events, or when there's nothing to do and nothing to talk about. You wonder, then, what is the purpose of our life, think about the reasons for our behaviors, imagining countless what ifs and what nots. You make possibilities seem greater than life.
Doing that with people and counterbalancing various scenarios is equally exciting. If you want a philosophical and stimulating game between a teacher and a group of students, if you are willing to decide whose life is worth living, who is more important in the hierarchy of world's survival, what is needed by humans to stay in the seeming psychological peace and what mistakes should we avoid, take part in this philosophy class. Mind-bending After the Dark.
Bram Stoker didn't predict one thing. Times change. Civilizations develop. Sunlight can be created by machines and blood can be stored in little plastic bags. One legend of an unhappy Count produced dozens of stories about creatures whose lives are dependent on someone's death. This time it's a tale of a friendship between the two: a human boy, and a nonhuman. In the magical darkness of Swedish winter, in the thrilling surrounding of contemporary blocks of flat, there is someone lurking behind the shadow. The task is to Let the Right One In and leave the evil outside the door.
We have needs of profane nature. We need food, water, shelter, warmth, we need people to surround us and interact with. We need jobs to make us feel important. Sometimes we desire power, success, the improvement of our financial status. But what can change all our priorities is one act of falling... in love. Then, the success, shelter, and occupation don't really matter. Then, the loyalty to a friend is no longer important. Then, your life goals seem to be overshadowed by time spent together with this one creature who takes your breath away.
It's a compelling love story which didn't lose any of its beauty, even though centuries passed, political systems were changed and global heroes are long buried under the ground. Find some beauty in one of the most tragic love stories ever written. For love is stronger than death. Tristan & Isolde.
How to deal with loss? How to survive the sickness of your parent? How to deal with the lack of acceptance, break-up, the turmoils and lack of chances in your vocational life? How to go through the process of pain, frustration and how not to fall apart under life circumstances? How to make your family accept your sexuality and how to deal with the fact that accepting adulthood is still a very lonely road, as it's difficult to be yourself among people who have the same problem. And why, while bad things happen to other people, these other people happen to be us?
Technology fascinates us. It dominated every sphere of life, it turned upside down the way we conduct shopping, business and love affairs. It shrunk the world as nowadays, no matter where you live, you can be as close to the second hemisphere as sitting on the couch right next to someone else. Internet got rid of distance. It changed movies, newspapers, publishing. It made people willing to open up and find a way for living which years before would be impossible. That's the bright side. Have you thought about the darker side of the internet world? Are you possibly addicted to games, social network, and YouTube vlogs? Are you in pain because of constant exposure to technology? Has your life shattered due to the time you spend online rather than in real life? Can you be replaced by robots? How science, politics, and economy changed thanks to one important message? An in-depth documentary about the digital world. Is it really that great that we are all connected?
People have various relationships with sex. Some still believe that it is only for procreation and has no other purpose than producing children. Others think that its Carpe diem of the hedonistic world and surround themselves with RedTube videos, gadgets, dildos and fake vaginas. Addiction has varied forms. But what if a rigid, timid and conservative couple visited a place which followed more liberal rules of conduct? What if exposure to nudity destroyed one square mind? What if pleasure was worth breaking a few guidelines? Still beautiful. Sirens.
I love it when people loosen the strings of imagination and let themselves be carried by creativity. The outcome might be amazing. If you want to learn what is important in life, what makes us human, what our lives look like from a perspective of someone who lost contact with the reality of literally being alive. If you want to be taken to an exciting journey of two people exploring friendship, fear, love, sex and all basic emotions in life. If you want to see a fable which your mind's eye and your strangest dreams couldn't ever produce, you should take a chance with this film. There is the magic of imagination which takes us to the level of Swiss Army Man. And you really forget Harry Potter, as some actors can apparently escape the box. Enjoy.
You'd think that being born a girl makes you innocent. You'd think that women are the gentlest of them all, that they smell of freshly picked flowers, that they have no fantasies and dirty thoughts. There were once two girls, whose friendship led them to carry out a terrible deed. Surrounded by a blissful world of imagination, romance and rebellion. Coming from an utterly different background, lonely without each other and dangerous in each others company, two girls inspired one Peter Jackson to make a film. Based on true events and immersed in the bubble of childhood castles and knights: Heavenly Creatures. The story of a crime.
There are small local initiatives which highlight the pride and drive of its people. There are world record holders who out of pure sense of competition want to outdo others and win the chance of being better, whether it's the longest bike ride in Africa or the biggest sandwich. There are stories which had really taken place and they are still remembered for their impact. Every small town has its local hero. Every small town has pride which can challenge any big city.
What if a small town blessed with one particular mountain, had this mountain demoted into a hill? What if a local initiative decided that such a demotion cannot in fact occur? Everyone has its five minutes of fame. Some hills/mountains share the same privilege.
What if a small town blessed with one particular mountain, had this mountain demoted into a hill? What if a local initiative decided that such a demotion cannot in fact occur? Everyone has its five minutes of fame. Some hills/mountains share the same privilege.
What money can't buy? Youth, beauty, and love. Let's skip the love part for a while. When I was sixteen, I didn't notice the sixteen-year-old girls running around in their fashionable clothes, fancy haircuts, meandering in packs from Starbucks to Dunkin' Donuts. I really just didn't pay attention. But now, when I'm wearing a T-shirt remembering my early twenties (an item which should probably be thrown away by the fashion police) I realize that at a certain age you're just really not important. You're not Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. And if you're over 25, God forbid, where is your husband and where are your children? The obsession with youth is like an obsession with time. You cannot stop the aging process. In your eighties, you're probably no longer sexy, fancy and glamorous. And reminiscing about the past is as hopeless as reminiscing about the time when you were 15 and you really lost those 20 kilograms. The Neon Demon.
